Reckoning and Reformation: Propelling the ELCIC Forward

Active Hope and Bold Vision at the 2025 National Convention

And just like that, 2025 National Convention has come and gone. Amid the heat and smoky haze, 164 delegates from across Canada, along with visitors, special guests, staff and volunteers, gathered on the University of Manitoba campus in Winnipeg, MB, coming together in faithful witness to worship, partake in the work of the ELCIC, discuss issues facing the church and its future, and engage in joyful fellowship.

“It has been an honour to serve you as your national bishop,” outgoing National Bishop Susan Johnson said. “I love our church and I’m proud of what we do and what we stand for. We pray fervently, we work for justice passionately, we face challenges head on, and we embrace the future with hope. We give thanks to God for the grace we have received and strive to share that grace with the world in great need. Soli Deo Gloria—to God alone the glory!”

The September 2025 issue of Canada Lutheran take a thorough look back at the 2025 ELCIC National Convention, highlighting the important themes and happenings from the four-day gathering in Winnipeg.
