Basic evangelism calls for us to welcome others, to invite our neighbour. Are we ready to welcome the visitor in our community or the neighbour who may decide to come for the first time or someone who has been away but is considering returning?
The following Christmastime experience was shared with me. “When visiting for the holidays, we want to worship at Christmas time. When we phoned the nearest Lutheran Church, we got no info about worship times. When a message was left, no one returned our call.”
“When we drove by the church, a neighbour said the regular Sunday worship time posted on the board was way out of date. There was no info posted anywhere about who to contact or Christmas worship schedules.”
When we tried the National Church’s findachurch.ca, the listing for the pastor had a number that does not work, and we found out later that he was long gone, and the other information was out of date.—Rev. Gary Nickel, Fort Saskatchewan, AB
