Re: One body, one bread, Sept., p. 9.
The communion bread recipe contains coconut milk. It isn’t technically a nut but many people with a nut allergy, including our daughter and my husband, are very allergic to it and would suffer an anaphylaxis reaction.

Canada Lutheran offered an opportunity for response:
I appreciate your comment. While coconut sensitivities have not been a specific concern in our community, Church of the Cross is responsive to people’s needs. We print the communion bread ingredient list in every church bulletin and encourage conversation about inclusion. Should this particular need arise, we would investigate viable options to replace the liquid in our recipe.
We encourage other communities to engage in this challenge because we believe it is important to celebrate over ONE bread that EVERYONE can share. Thanks also for the opportunity to respond. It seems the work to make room for people really never ends!
