It began 70 years ago. Displaced masses clogged the back roads of post-war Europe. Since then Canadian Lutherans have reached out to the landless and dispossessed around the world. Now they are doing it again. Through the Reformation Challenge, the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada (ELCIC) calls its congregations to sponsor 500 refugees to Canada. “A core value of my faith is to welcome the stranger, the refugee, the internally displaced, the other.
